On Friday April 30th, 2010, firefighters from Tijuana and Tecate Fire Departments took part in great day of training with L.A. County firefighters. The Bomberos Association coordinated this training exercise with the support of LACOFD. Fire Camp 12 hosted the morning wildland firefighting training. The wildland training consisted of fire shelter deployment and fire line construction evolutions with handcrews from Camp 12, Camp 11, and Engines 132 and 156. Lunch was donated by the Bomberos Association and was prepared by Camp 12 for all participants involved in the training. The afternoon consisted of a structure fire ventilation drill given by members of the Bomberos Association at the Cecil R. Gehr Training Center. The afternoon training was followed by a "greet and meet" with Chief Tripp and Chief Osby. After completing a full day of training, a dinner reception was held at Rudy's Baja Grill in East Los Angeles. Owner Rudy Lopez was gracious enough to donate dinner for all participants of the day's training exercise. The firefighters from Baja Mexico expressed their gratitude and appreciation for this special opportunity to learn new firefighting skills that will not only benefit them, but also other fire departments in Baja California, Mexico. As a token of their appreciation, the Baja Mexico firefighters presented a beautiful plaque and several fire department t-shirts to several L.A. County Fire members. The Bomberos Association would like to acknowledge the following individuals for their valuable contribution: Superintendant 12 Mark Collett, Camp 12 Foreman Rudy Mariscal, Camp Crew 12-2, Heavy Equipment Operator Beaty, Superintendant 22 Glenn Goulet, Superintendant 11 Bernie Deyo, FFS Mario Cabrales (Prevention Lancaster), FF Edgar Robledo (FS 187, BN19) and David Hernandez (Prevention). The Bomberos Association would like to thank the LACOFD for the helping make this event possible, specifically Chief J. Tripp and Chief D. Osby. |
